Helping Others Since 2010 (1).png

The mission statement of Aprovechar Language Solutions was created to ensure that everyone has an exceptional bilingual voice. As the world continues to open and cultural borders are crossed, linguistic borders must also be crossed and opened.

From my months spent in Madrid, Spain, my host mother would always tell me to “aprovechar la ciudad y la experiencia”. After this, aprovechar became my personal mantra, reminding me to take advantage of all the tools I had at my disposal. This ties directly to my belief that language is a tool to be used to its fullest potential, and there are a lot of language tools out there that need to be taken advantage of and utilized.

When I was little, my mom went back to school for her teaching certification, and as part of her teaching requirements, had to learn a foreign language.

I got to learn alongside her - suddenly, the world opened up, as what I previously knew as gibberish gained meaning, and became another language. This was my introduction to Spanish.

Building on my language skills, my International Relations training has taught me  how to connect with others and build relationships, as well as the importance of words, comprehension, and understanding.

My Spanish experience goes back to 2005, with highlights including:

  • A semester studying and providing English tutoring lessons to two children in Madrid, Spain (2010)

  • An internship with the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN) in Washington, DC (2011), assisting with TPS applications, community resources, and case intake for a Dispute Resolution Clinic

  • Working as an English / Spanish tutor in the DC region (2013-2015)

  • Writing bilingual articles for BoricuasConnect (2016-2017).
